Over term 2 in our Hapori o Manutahi (Lepperton Community) unit we investigated whether or not kids at Lepperton School were bored at morning tea and lunchtimes. We also found out what types of activities kids wanted to do at school, and ran activities at morning tea and lunch for all the students at school to participate in if they wanted to. There were activities such as lego club, soccer, chess club, crafts, dancing and obstacle courses. We then surveyed students again to see if our activities had any effect on how bored kids were. Chace and Caylib's graph shows that our Hapori o Manutahi activities had a positive effect on how bored kids feel at break times at school. We hope to continue these activities next term, to provide lots of different options for all students to participate in, and to give our Kotahitanga students leadership opportunities.
